The Qatari prime minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, has dismissed claims that Qatar's offer of a $400 million Boeing 747 jet to former U. S. President Donald Trump was a bribe. During this visit, Qatar also agreed to purchase up to 210 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 777X aircraft, powered by GE Aerospace engines. This deal was hailed as the largest-ever widebody and 787 orders at Boeing, a major U. S. defense contractor. Al-Thani insisted that the jet offer was a normal practice among allies and denied any attempt to buy influence. He pointed out that many nations have gifted the U. S. various items, comparing it to the Statue of Liberty, although not directly. He stressed that the relationship between Qatar and the U. S. is mutually beneficial and transparent.

Trump had mentioned that the jet would temporarily replace the aging Air Force One. He also suggested that the plane might eventually join a future presidential library foundation. However, Boeing is currently facing delays in producing the new Air Force One due to supplier and parts issues.
