A Big Screen Adventure for Westeros
Hollywood, Los Angeles, USAFriday, November 1, 2024
The initial showrunners, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, once pitched three feature films to cap off the series. However, HBO resisted, aiming to keep 'Game of Thrones' an HBO exclusive. But times have changed. The Batman's spin-off, upcoming Dune TV series, and new Lord of the Rings movies are examples of properties crossing mediums, making Westeros on the big screen less surprising.
HBO isn't done with prequels, with series like 'House of the Dragon' and 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' already in the works. But with all successor projects being prequels, storylines post-original series remain unexplored. Fans might soon enjoy new adventures in theaters, as they did briefly with major episodes screened in cinemas.
