In Ohio, a new program is set to launch at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (STVM). It's called the STVM STEM Scholars Program. This initiative is all about supporting students who are really into science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The program is possible because of a generous donation from Frank Linsalata, a successful alumnus.

Program Details

  • Starting with the class of 2030, this program will pick out top students.
  • These students will have:
  • Great grades
  • Strong performance on the High School Placement Test
  • A demonstrated interest in STEM
  • After a tough interview process, one boy and one girl will be chosen as the first STVM STEM Scholars.
  • They will receive:
  • A full scholarship for four years
  • Special learning experiences

Impact and Opportunities

The president of STVM, Dave Vitatoe, is excited about this. He says it's a big deal for the school. It shows their commitment to excellent education and preparing students for the future. The program will give students unique chances to learn:

  • Work on research projects
  • Get advice from experts in the field

Post-Graduation Opportunities

After graduating from STVM, these scholars can apply to Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). If they get in, they can receive more scholarship money thanks to the Linsalata Family Scholarship. It's a way to connect STVM and CWRU, two schools that Linsalata attended.

Frank Linsalata's Vision

Linsalata is happy to help young people who are good at science and engineering. He hopes this program will inspire students to follow their dreams and make a difference in the world.

Timeline and Contact

  • The first STEM Scholars will be chosen in early 2026.
  • They will start school in the fall of 2026.
