At the World Economic Forum in Davos, U.S. President Donald Trump couldn't resist making light of French President Emmanuel Macron's choice of eyewear.

Macron had sported aviator sunglasses during his speech the day before, indoors. Trump, addressing the global elite, quipped:

"I saw him yesterday, with those stunning sunglasses. What was that about?"

This remark sparked a wave of memes online, with some praising Macron's "Top Gun" vibe and others questioning his style.

Macron's team explained that the sunglasses were a necessity due to a burst blood vessel in his eye. This incident highlighted the stark contrast in communication styles between the two leaders.

Macron, known for his diplomatic approach, had earlier criticized Trump's threat to impose tariffs on French wine and champagne. He called such actions "fundamentally unacceptable" and vowed to stand up to "bullies."

Meanwhile, Trump's speech took a different tone. He criticized European leaders and made it clear he had ambitions for Greenland, though he ruled out using force to achieve them.

NATO leaders have expressed concerns that Trump's Greenland strategy could disrupt the alliance. The leaders of Denmark and Greenland have offered various ways to increase U.S. presence on the island, which is home to 57,000 people.
