A Closer Look at the Embraer Phenom 100EV and EX

First flying in 2008, Embraer's Phenom 100 is the entry-level business jet for the Brazilian manufacturer. It has evolved in many ways. The Phenom 100E added spoilers for better performance. Its successor, the 100EV, swapped engines for more thrust and updated avionics. The latest model, the 100EX, debuted at NBAA 2023, featuring a safety system called ROAAS, which helps pilots land safely. Several governments and the military use the Phenom 100. For example, the United Arab Emirates trains pilots, and Pakistan uses it for VIP transport. The Texas Department of Transportation also has a fleet for passenger transport. The Phenom 100EX is faster and more efficient than the Cessna Citation Mustang. It has a unique OvalLite™ cabin interior, designed for comfort and style. Inside the cockpit, Embraer added the Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS). This system warns pilots if they're at risk of overshooting the runway. Other cockpit features include advanced avionics and better seat design for pilot comfort. Buying a new 100EX costs around $5 million, which is reasonable compared to other Very Light Jets. Used models sell for about $2. 89 million on average. Operating costs are between $6. 10 and $7. 75 per mile.
