A Comeback Victory for The Citadel
The Citadel faced a formidable challenge against Southern Wesleyan, starting the game on a rough note by missing their first six shots and falling behind 7-0. However, they refused to give up.
A Bench Hero Emerges
Dante Kearse, a bench player, stepped up with a stellar performance, scoring 15 points including five 3-pointers. His efforts ignited a 16-2 run in the first half, helping The Citadel take control of the game. They ultimately won 98-73 in front of 1,435 fans.
A Significant Victory
The win was a major milestone for The Citadel, snapping a four-game losing streak. Five players scored in double figures:
- Eze Wali: 14 points
- Braxton Williams: 13 points
- Carter Kingsbury: 13 points
The team's bench outscored Southern Wesleyan's bench 41-25. They also had their best 3-point shooting game of the season, making 19 of 49 3-pointers. Nine different players hit from beyond the arc.
Southern Wesleyan's Effort
Malachi Cooper led all scorers with 16 points for Southern Wesleyan, but it wasn't enough to overcome The Citadel's balanced attack. The Bulldogs moved the ball well, finishing with 21 assists on 37 made baskets. They also outscored the Warriors 34-26 in the paint.
Despite missing center Simeon German due to illness, The Citadel showcased depth and resilience.
