A Danish Dream: Victoria Kjær Theilvig Becomes the First Miss Universe from Denmark

Meet Victoria Kjær Theilvig from Denmark. She's just made history as the first Danish contestant to win Miss Universe. The 73rd edition of the competition took place in Mexico City, where 131 contestants gathered to represent their countries. This year, new faces joined, including representatives from Belarus, Eritrea, Guinea, Macau, Maldives, Moldova, and Uzbekistan. The event was hosted by Mario López, Olivia Culpo (Miss Universe 2012), Zuri Hall, and Catriona Gray (Miss Universe 2018). The grand finale was held at the Mexico City Arena, packed with 20, 000 people waving flags from around the world. The ceremony kicked off with a lively performance by 131 mariachi musicians and Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas. They played "Mexicana, " a song created especially for the event by Emilio Estefan.

Victoria, who works in the diamond trade and is an animal protection advocate, beat out Miss Nigeria and Miss Mexico to claim the top spot. She's the shining star of Denmark now, and organizers are excited about the impact she'll make as Miss Universe. Prior to this, Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios won the crown in El Salvador, marking the first time her country had a Miss Universe.
