Southeastern Louisiana University is preparing for an impactful Veterans Week, culminating in a special Veterans Day lecture on November 11th at 11 a.m. in the Student Union Theatre.

The highlight of the week is a lecture by Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honoré, renowned for his leadership and disaster management expertise, particularly during Hurricane Katrina. Known as the "Category 5 General," he promises an engaging and insightful discussion.

  • Military Banquet: That evening, the university will host a military banquet featuring U.S. Air Force General Amy Bumgarner as the keynote speaker. General Bumgarner, an alumna of Southeastern Louisiana University, will share her experiences and insights.
  • Veterans Week Activities: The Office of Military and Veterans Success, led by Captain Emily Anthony, has planned a variety of activities to honor and support veterans.

Historical Reflection

The History and Political Science Department will also participate by highlighting the university's 100-year history with the military. This is an opportunity to reflect on the past and honor those who have served.
