A Deadly Day in the Italian Alps
The Italian Alps recently witnessed a tragic event. Five experienced climbers from Germany lost their lives in a sudden avalanche while attempting to reach the top of Cima Vertana, a peak in the Ortler mountain range.
The Incident
The group consisted of two separate teams, all connected by ropes for safety. Unfortunately, a massive wave of snow and ice came down the mountain, sweeping away the climbers and leaving two teams struggling to survive.
Rescue Efforts
Rescue teams worked quickly:
- Saturday: Found two men and a woman.
- Sunday: Discovered the father and his teenage daughter, who were part of the same team but were not as lucky as the others.
Survivors
Two climbers managed to escape the avalanche unharmed. They were part of the group but were not caught in the slide.
