A New Era for Bay County Historical Museum: Leadership Shifts with Vision for Growth

A Seasoned Leader Takes the Helm

This summer, the Bay County Historical Museum welcomes Kyle Proctor as its new Executive Director, beginning June 1. With over two decades of experience in organizational leadership and corporate communications, Proctor brings a wealth of expertise to his role.

His career spans high-level positions in corporate communications, including a recent stint with a major healthcare company, as well as earlier leadership roles at a large chemical corporation. Recognized for his ability to navigate organizational change, Proctor was selected after a thorough search process by the museum’s board.

"His track record in guiding institutions through transformation makes him an ideal fit for the next phase of our mission," said a board representative.

Beyond Preservation: A Museum Reimagined

Proctor’s arrival signals a fresh direction for the museum—one that extends beyond artifact preservation. Exciting plans are underway to strengthen community ties and enhance how history is presented to visitors.

Founded in 1919, the museum has long been a beloved local institution, offering free entry to all Bay County residents and members. Non-residents can explore for a small fee:

  • $2 per person
  • $5 per family

Nestled in downtown Bay City, the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, making it an accessible destination for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.

Guided Tours: A Climb to the Past

A Stitch in Time: The Bay Heritage Quilters Guild
