A Lifelong Quest for Heart Health
GLOBALWednesday, January 15, 2025
Currently, behaviors and their physical effects aren't measured in everyday medical practice. To change this, the researcher suggests tracking "lifestyle vital signs. " These include waist size, cardiorespiratory fitness, diet quality, and leisure-time physical activity. This should be done routinely in primary care settings.
However, improving the heart health of the population will require more than just individual efforts. Our living and economic conditions must support healthy habits. This means addressing the social and economic factors that influence our health. Bridging the gap between primary care and public health could be a game-changer in tackling these issues.
