Dion Lamont Camp, a resident of Virginia Beach, has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for a fraudulent scheme that targeted 14 women. Camp was found guilty of 19 crimes, including fraud and identity theft.

The Scheme

Camp, who posed as a wealthy businessman named Myles, convinced the women he was successful, driving luxury cars and wearing designer clothes. He claimed to make substantial profits from flipping houses, but investigators discovered this was a lie.

  • Targeting Trustworthy Women: Camp would inquire about the women's credit scores and jobs.
  • False Claims: He told them his assets were frozen due to IRS issues and asked them to take out loans in their names.
  • False Promises: He assured them he would repay them once his accounts were unfrozen.

The women, trusting him, took out loans and gave him the money or their credit cards. Camp even used their personal information to open new credit cards without their knowledge.

The Aftermath

Despite making small payments initially, Camp left the women with huge debts, often exceeding $100,000. The money he obtained was used to purchase luxury items, including a Mercedes and a Versace bathrobe.

FBI Special Agent Dominique Evans stated that Camp exploited the women's trust, causing them financial and emotional harm.

Post-Arrest Attempts

After his arrest, Camp tried to secure a loan for a BMW, falsely claiming he worked at UPS. He is the father of 22 children and owes over $100,000 in child support.

Camp denied the charges, asserting his business made thousands every month. However, due to his convictions, he must repay the U.S. government $1.7 million.
