Lala Barina, a spider-like monster, eat mushrooms, and that is why the Scarlet Forest has plenty of mushrooms, it uses the mushrooms to inflict hazards and untold effects to players. According to Tokuda this effect from lala Barina and the presence of mushrooms in the forest help players learn to deal with different hazards. A little known race of creatures, the Shrumpets, also thrive in the area. Shrumpets are otter-like creatures who incorporate mushrooms into their clothing, food, and culture. The revelation that a little-known race of creatures live in the Scarlet Forest, adds to the knowledge of the game and the world of Monster Hunter Wilds.
