During a press meeting at The Players Championship, he said he now eats more while playing and that this keeps his energy levels up. The round can feel like a marathon: golfers walk more than five miles over several hours, often in hot weather. If they don’t fuel properly, focus drifts and even a short dip in blood sugar can cause mistakes on the final holes. That’s why many players keep snacks such as trail mix, peanut butter sandwiches, beef jerky, and fruit in their bags. Straka also mentioned that his off‑course eating has improved over the last year, mainly for overall health. He feels more energetic in everyday life and believes this benefit spills over into his game, even though he didn’t detail the exact foods. A good pre‑round routine, he hinted, involves a carbohydrate‑rich breakfast with healthy fats.

At The Players Championship 2026, Straka is holding sixth place at seven under par after two rounds. His first round of 67 included a spectacular 50‑foot chip‑in for an eagle on the par‑5 16th. Despite missing several fairways, he relied on a solid short game and precise putting to maintain his score. The second round was 70, with birdies on the par‑3 13th and another on the par‑5 16th, keeping him close to the leaders. Across 36 holes he has logged one eagle, six birdies and a single bogey. He hits about 61 % of fairways and 58 % of greens in regulation, ranking fourth for strokes gained around the green. The tournament is currently led by Ludvig Åberg at 12 under par as players head into the weekend.
