A New Face Joins the Bellwood-Antis School Board
Bryan Fatzinger Joins the Board
The Bellwood-Antis School Board has welcomed a new member, Bryan Fatzinger, a science teacher from State College. He replaces Kathy Sweigert, who stepped down in December to focus on her family. Fatzinger's term will last until the next election in 2027.
The Race for the Spot
Four candidates vied for the position:
- Scott Soisson, a Sheetz executive, highlighted his business experience.
- Matthew Hollen, a photographer, discussed his community goals.
- John Finamore, a firefighter, emphasized investing in youth.
Fatzinger secured the position with four votes, thanks to his 20 years of teaching and a recent master's degree in education.
Upgrading Technology Amid Budget Concerns
The school district is looking to upgrade its technology infrastructure. They need 440 new laptops for the high school, costing $314,000. The rising price of RAM has made this a urgent decision to avoid higher costs. The board is also cautious about the budget, as they are still recovering from past deficits.
Looking Ahead
Fatzinger is excited to start and sees this as an opportunity to make a difference. The board will meet again in February to finalize the tech upgrades.
