A New Plan for Gaza: What's Really Going On?
Gaza StripTuesday, May 6, 2025
The United Nations World Food Program said they ran out of food in Gaza in April. This is because Israel has been blocking all supplies since March. Aya al-Skafy from Gaza City shared a heartbreaking story. Her baby died because of malnutrition and lack of medicine. Another resident, Umm Hashem al-Saqqa, fears for her son's life. He suffers from anemia and can't walk due to malnutrition.
Israel says there is no hunger crisis in Gaza. But people like Mohammed al-Shawa disagree. He says Israel controls most of Gaza and the new military plan won't change much. The United Nations says 69% of Gaza is either in Israel's control or has evacuation orders. In the southern part of Rafah, the situation is even worse. Over 230, 000 people lived there before the war, but now it's a no-go zone.
Israel blames Hamas for the suffering in Gaza. They say Hamas steals humanitarian aid. But people in Gaza say they have no food or medicine. They also say Israel is killing them through bombing, shooting, or starvation. The situation is complex, but one thing is clear: people in Gaza are suffering.
