A New Storm Brews: Philippines Braces for Another Hit
PhilippinesTuesday, November 12, 2024
The Philippines is no stranger to storms. Every year, about 20 big storms and typhoons hit the country, causing devastation and keeping millions in poverty. A recent study shows that these storms are getting stronger and forming closer to coastlines due to climate change. It's a worrying trend that the Philippines, and many other countries, are facing.
After Toraji, the government reported no casualties, but around 15, 000 people are still in evacuation centers. Utility workers are busy repairing damage and restoring power. But the work might not be done in time for Usagi. And if that's not enough, there's another storm, Tropical Storm Man-yi, that could threaten the Philippines next week. It's a challenging time for the country, that's for sure.
