A Pioneering Politician's Journey Cut Short
Utah, USAMonday, March 24, 2025
In a 2022 interview, Love reflected on the challenges faced by women of color in politics. She acknowledged the support but also the limitations, stating, "People like the idea of women running, they do, especially a woman of color, but the efforts don’t go far enough. " She hoped her journey would pave the way for more women to follow in her footsteps.
Love's health struggles were well-known. Her daughter had previously revealed that Love was battling a glioblastoma, a severe form of brain cancer. This aggressive disease had been progressing despite treatments. In a heartfelt post, her daughter shared that the family had shifted their focus from treatment to spending quality time with Love. The family's statement on the day of her passing described her as someone who "quietly slipped the bands of mortality and, as her words and vision always did, soared heavenward. "
In the coming days, the family plans to announce funeral arrangements and details for a public celebration of Love's life. They expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, prayers, and condolences from the community.
