New Jersey Man Behind Bars in Florida

Jon Cannon, a resident of New Jersey, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for a 2021 crime in Florida. He was convicted of sneaking into a college dorm and inappropriately touching a sleeping student.

A History of Similar Crimes

This was not Cannon's first offense. He had previously served time in New Jersey for similar incidents at two different colleges in 2015 and 2016. One victim even witnessed him committing an act of misconduct right next to her bed.

After his release in 2018, he quickly found himself in trouble again, facing stalking charges that led to another prison sentence.

The Florida Incident

In the latest case, the victim awoke to find a man touching her. He claimed to be a neighbor named Joe, but she screamed, pushed him away, and called the police. However, he fled before authorities arrived.

The Investigation

Police later identified the suspect as Jon Cannon. They used traffic cameras to track his vehicle and obtained his DNA from a discarded soda bottle. He had entered the dorm through an unlocked door.

At the time of his arrest, Cannon was living in Florida and working at a pizza restaurant. His past crimes in New Jersey ultimately led to his current imprisonment in a Florida state prison.
