A Royal Rift: Charity Chair Accuses Prince Harry of Bullying

The chair of an African charity, Sentebale, has made serious accusations against Prince Harry. Sophie Chandauka claims that the prince was behind a bullying and harassment campaign. This all started after Harry suddenly quit the charity he co-founded in 2006. The charity focuses on helping children in southern Africa who have HIV/AIDS. Chandauka has been vocal about the issues she faced. She spoke about how Harry's Netflix deal caused problems for a planned fundraiser. There was also tension involving his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, who co-founded Sentebale, stepped down as patrons. They did this in support of five trustees who resigned due to an internal dispute with Chandauka. The princes expressed their shock and sadness in a joint statement. They mentioned a breakdown in relationships between the board members and Chandauka. She refused to step down when asked, leading to a stalemate over a change in the organization's mission. Chandauka took legal action to keep her position. She reported the trustees to the Charity Commission in the U. K. and filed papers in a British court to prevent her removal.

Chandauka accused the charity of misconduct without naming anyone. She claimed there was abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny, and misogynoir. Misogynoir is a term for the combination of racism and misogyny directed toward Black women. Chandauka said Harry's resignation caught her off guard and was a form of harassment and bullying. She also alleged that he interfered with her whistleblower complaint. The charity, Sentebale, was founded to help youths affected by AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana. It has since expanded its mission to address youth health, wealth, and climate resilience in southern Africa. Chandauka mentioned that there was a significant drop in donors after Harry and Meghan left their official royal duties. She also pointed out the "toxicity" of Harry's brand as a risk to the charity. In an interview, Chandauka talked about a polo fundraiser in Miami. The event almost fell apart when Harry wanted to bring a Netflix camera crew. The cost of the venue increased, and they had to find another host. Meghan's surprise appearance at the event led to an awkward moment during the trophy presentation. Chandauka rejected Harry's request to issue a statement in support of Meghan, stating that the charity cannot be an extension of the Sussexes.
