Airstrike on Tehran Prison Sparks Global Outcry

A United Nations investigator announced that an Israeli bombing of Tehran’s Evin prison last year amounted to a war crime. The strike killed over 70 people, according to Iranian officials, and the site has suffered further damage from recent U. S. -Israeli attacks. The prison is known for holding political detainees, including a British couple, raising fears that the inmates are in danger. The report, presented to the U. N. Human Rights Council, was built on interviews with survivors, satellite images and other evidence. It states that Israel deliberately targeted a civilian facility, which is prohibited under international law.
