Everybody wants better, faster AI. But that means more data centers, which gobble up electricity. Two big tech names—Fujitsu from Japan and Supermicro from the US—are teaming up to fix this. They're creating a new platform just for AI, using a special chip called Monaka that promises to be both fast and frugal with power.
The plan is to have these state-of-the-art servers ready by 2027. They'll work well not only for AI tasks but also for other important jobs in the cloud and at the edge of networks. Both companies are really keen on making these data centers eco-friendly, even planning to cool them using liquid. It's like building a smart, energy-efficient city, but just for computers!
The Japanese government is giving this project some extra love with funding from its New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization. So, what does this mean for us? Maybe one day, AI won't cost the Earth—in more ways than one.
