Akron has a fresh new logo. It was shown to the public at the city's 200th birthday celebration. The design process involved many people from the community. They gave their thoughts and ideas. The old logo, called the Rubberworker, is being replaced. This new logo will be used with the city's All-America Seal.
The logo was made by a local company called Pritt Entertainment Group. They spent months working on it. The city set aside $50, 000 for this project. This money paid for the design and a new branding guide. The logo will be used online first. Physical items will be updated over time as they wear out.
The logo has several special features. At the top, it says "The City of Akron Established 1825. " The words are tilted. This is because Akron comes from the Greek word for "high point. " The colors are dark blue, light blue, and green. These were chosen by the community. Blue was the favorite color. Green represents the city's many parks.
Below the words, there is a blimp. This honors Akron's history as the Rubber Capital. The Goodyear Blimp is still seen in the sky today. Under the blimp, there are two buckeye trees and the downtown skyline. These show the importance of parks and the city's growth.
At the bottom, there is a river and a blue heron. This represents Akron's waterways. The city has worked hard to clean them up. The blue heron is a sign of this success. It is now common to see them by the rivers.
The new logo is more than just a symbol. It represents the community's pride and progress. It shows Akron's history and future. The city hopes it will bring people together.
