Alan Wake Gets a Big Visual Boost on PC
The latest patch for Alan Wake Remastered brings a major visual upgrade: HDR support now works on PC, giving the game brighter colors and deeper shadows.
This update is more than just a new lighting mode. It also lets players skip the opening cutscene, which speeds up play for those who have already seen it.
Gamers can now run the game at 240 FPS if their hardware allows, thanks to unlocked frame‑rate limits.
Other fixes improve the game on ultra‑wide monitors and tidy up graphics glitches that were caused by rendering errors.
The patch also adds better DLSS support and corrects a field‑of‑view scaling issue that affected some players.
Behind the HDR Upgrade
Industry veteran Filippo Tarpini has long pushed for wider use of high‑dynamic‑range technology in games. He argues that many developers think HDR is a niche feature, so it gets overlooked while other GPU‑specific tricks get marketing hype.
Tarpini believes that players should see the real benefit of HDR in their gaming experience, and he hopes this patch will change that perception.
