AMD has just released the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, the next big thing in processors. This new chip comes from the Zen 5 architecture and uses AMD's second-gen 3D V-Cache technology. The company has moved the cache memory below the processor, making it closer to the cooling solution. This helps keep the cores cooler, allowing AMD to boost the factory clock speeds. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D has eight powerful cores and 16 processing threads. It runs at a base clock speed of 4. 7 GHz and can boost up to 5. 2 GHz. Compared to its predecessor, the 7800X3D, which ran at 4. 2 GHz and boosted up to 5. 0 GHz, this is a significant improvement. The new chip also has a higher total cache (104 MB) and a 120W TDP. AMD says the 9800X3D offers up to an eight percent gaming performance boost over the previous model and is 20 percent faster than competing Intel chips. In games like Far Cry 6, Hogwarts Legacy, and Ashes of the Singularity, AMD claims there's over a 20 percent increase in performance. Against Intel's new Arrow Lake chip, AMD's 9800X3D is more than 50 percent faster in games like Watch Dogs: Legion and Cyberpunk 2077. One thing to note is that while the chip is unlocked and ready for overclocking, doing so might void your warranty. AMD mentions this in the fine print, so be careful if you decide to push the limits. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D hits the market on November 7, priced at $479, which is about $30 more than the 7800X3D. Whether it's worth the extra cost will depend on how much performance you need. Stay tuned for our full review on launch day!
