America's Long-Lost Love Affair with Canada
CanadaSunday, March 30, 2025
In 1775, things got more serious. The Congress decided to invade Canada. George Washington sent a message to the Canadians, saying that Benedict Arnold was on his way with troops. He urged the Canadians to join the Americans in a "union" and run together to the same goal.
So, why is this history important? Well, it shows that the idea of annexing Canada is not new. It also shows that these attempts have always been awkward and unsuccessful. As some people in the United States talk about expanding northward, it's worth remembering these past failures. It's also worth considering whether annexing Canada is a good idea in the first place.
Canada is a sovereign nation with its own history, culture, and values. It has its own set of problems and challenges. Annexing Canada would not solve any of the United States' problems. In fact, it would likely create more problems. It's important to respect Canada's sovereignty and focus on building a positive relationship between the two countries. This relationship should be based on mutual respect, cooperation, and friendship, not on attempts to absorb one country into the other.
