Apple & Huawei: Battle for China's Smartphone Market with Discounts

In China's competitive smartphone market, Apple is rolling out discounts on its latest iPhones to keep up with homegrown rivals like Huawei. Customers can save up to 500 yuan ($68. 50) on iPhone 16 Pro models by using specific payment methods. This promotional offer is valid from January 4 to 7. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will have a 400 yuan discount during this period. Apple isn't the only one making moves. Huawei, once a global leader before U. S. sanctions hit, is now slashing prices by up to 20% on its premium phones. They've also launched the innovative Mate XT with a 10-inch tri-fold display, just hours after Apple's iPhone 16 debut.

Last year, Apple reclaimed its spot as the second-largest smartphone maker in China, capturing a 15. 6% market share in the third quarter. Huawei's comeback has been impressive, with four straight quarters of double-digit growth. The foldable phone market is expected to grow further thanks to Huawei's innovations. China's smartphone shipments jumped by 8. 9% year-over-year in the second quarter, thanks to strong performances by Huawei and other local brands.
