In the small town of South Congaree, a tense situation unfolded recently.  A local business was the target of an armed robbery.  This event involved multiple victims, including a young mother and her 2-year-old daughter.  The two robbers had guns and pointed them at the mother and her child.

The South Congaree Police, along with the Columbia Police Department and Lexington Medical Center Public Safety, worked together to catch one of the suspects.  The suspect, Nathaniel Wayne Thomas, was found and taken into custody without any problems.  He is one of the two men wanted for the armed robbery.  The second suspect, Antwan Sumter Jr. , is still out there.  Law enforcement is actively looking for him.

Both suspects are facing serious charges.  They are accused of armed robbery with a deadly weapon, having a deadly weapon during a crime, criminal conspiracy, and pointing a firearm at people.  This includes the mother and her young child.

The authorities have released Thomas from the Lexington County Detention Center.  He was let go on a $23, 000 surety bond.  This means he had to pay a large amount of money to be released from jail while waiting for his trial.

The public is being asked to help find Sumter Jr.  If anyone recognizes him or knows where he is, they should call 911 or contact local law enforcement right away.  This is a critical step in bringing the second suspect to justice.

This incident highlights the importance of community involvement in crime prevention and resolution.  When people come together and share information, it can make a big difference in keeping everyone safe.
