Flint’s north side will host a free community fair this Saturday from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m. at Berston Field House, 3300 N. Saginaw St. Crime Stoppers of Flint & Genesee County and Friends of Berston have teamed up to offer families a chance to meet local groups that can help with safety, health and education. The event is named the Back‑to‑School S. H. A. R. E. Fair, a play on Safety, Health, Access, Resources and Education.  

Families can walk through booths where they’ll find useful information about school supplies, health services and community programs. Each visitor gets a passport to stamp at each stop; once the passport is complete, they enter a raffle for prizes.  

In addition to learning, attendees can enjoy face painting, temporary tattoos and a live performance by the Smooth Steppers. McGruff the Crime Dog will be there for pictures and giveaways, celebrating his birthday during the event.  

Food is free: hot dogs, ice cream and light snacks will be available all afternoon. If backpacks are needed, children can receive them while supplies last.  

Parking is plentiful: visitors can use the Berston lot off Dewey Street, a gravel spot at Pasadena Ave. and Saginaw St. , or street parking along Saginaw St.
