How It Works

• A thief rents or steals a car and waits outside a bank.
• They watch for someone carrying a bank bag or a lot of cash.
• Once the person leaves, the thief follows them.
• When the person stops somewhere else, the thief either robs them or breaks into their car to steal the money.

Recent Incident in Woodbury, New Jersey

• A man from Houston, Texas, named Reginald Chatman Jr., followed someone who had just taken money out of the bank.
• He broke into their car and stole the cash.
• Chatman is now in jail in Oklahoma City for a similar crime and will be sent to New Jersey to face charges.

Police Warnings

• Be careful when leaving banks or fancy stores.
• Don't use your phone at the bank.
• Hide your bank bags and envelopes.
• This crime is common in the south, especially around Houston, but it's spreading.
