Bank Overdraft Fees: A New Limit is Coming

Big banks like JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America are already cutting back on these fees. Now, the CFPB is stepping in to make sure all banks play fair. The new rule applies to big banks and credit unions with at least $10 billion in assets. It's part of the CFPB's push to rein in junk fees. But don't expect the banks to just roll over. They're already fighting back, saying the rule could push people towards even worse options like payday loans. The rule is set to take effect on October 1, 2025. But its future is uncertain.
