Baseball's Concerns: Will Diamond Sports' Plan Work?
USASaturday, November 9, 2024
Another thing that's got them puzzled is the plan to partner with Amazon. They want to know more about what this partnership will look like. And there's also some confusion about Diamond Sports' plan to reach viewers directly, without going through traditional cable bundles.
This isn't the first time MLB has asked for more details. Back in October, they wanted more info about a deal Diamond made with FanDuel. The Braves, on the other hand, are now a separate company after being split from Liberty Media. They're still working with Diamond, but other teams have started to look elsewhere.
Diamond Sports has said they'll keep their contract with the Braves, but they're trying to change or drop deals with 11 other MLB teams. Some teams have already turned to MLB to produce their local games. It's a complicated situation, and we'll have to wait and see how it all plays out.
