Naji Marshall, born on January 24, 1998, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, grew up in two different basketball cultures. His family moved to Maryland when he was 9. This cross-state exposure shaped Naji's skills and passion for the game. His dad, Maurice Marshall, a former boxer turned basketball coach, instilled hard work and discipline in all his children, including Naji. His mom, Rayna Whitted, also emphasized the importance of dedication through her job at Providence Hospital.
Naji attended Takoma Academy and later Eleanor Roosevelt High School, where he played under coach Brendan O'Connell. This change propelled his basketball career forward. Naji attributed his success to divine guidance, stating, “I’m blessed to be here. All glory to God. ” His faith is evident; his Instagram bio reads “God First. ”
Away from basketball, Naji enjoys checking out YouTube, listening to music, and lifting weights to relax. His journey is also about giving back to his family, inspiring those around him just like his parents did. Today, he continues to excel in the NBA as a Dallas Maverick, carrying the values and lessons learned from his upbringing.
