Bay Area Avoids Power Outage: Why Wind Matters
Bay Area, USAWednesday, October 2, 2024
But guess what? PG&E changed their mind! On Monday afternoon, they said no more power shutoffs for those counties. The weather forecast got better, and the wind wasn't as bad as they thought it would be. Tamar Sarkissian from PG&E explained that they look at lots of things before making a decision like this, including temperatures, how humid it is, dead and dry stuff on the ground, and if there are any red flag warnings.
Sarkissian also said Monday was the day with the most worry. Good thing the weather played nice, huh? So, no power outages for the Bay Area this time!
