Belarus' Lukashenko: North Korea Troops in Ukraine? Not Likely!
BelarusThursday, October 24, 2024
He says Russian troops were already in Belarus for exercises and Putin redirected some to Kyiv. Lukashenko hasn't asked Putin about it, and Putin hasn't called him. This shows Russia's influence on Belarus. Recently, Russia placed tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. Lukashenko says Putin won't use them without his consent, and he's ready if needed, but only if a foreign soldier steps into Belarus. Lukashenko also mentioned "political prisoners, " contradicting his previous denial. Some see the recent releases as a message to the West, but Lukashenko denies this. He says they were freed on humanitarian grounds.
