The next football season is almost here, and with it comes a chance to celebrate the top girls athletes from last year.  

A voting poll has opened, inviting fans to pick who they think was the standout player of the 2025-26 season.  

Thirteen athletes have been nominated, each having earned player‑of‑the‑year honors in their sport during fall, winter or spring.  

The poll will stay open until noon on Saturday, July 25, and voters can cast as many ballots as they wish.  

Once the voting closes, the winner will be announced and added to the list of all‑area teams.  

The selection process is a final tribute before football practices start again in the Gainesville area, marking the beginning of the 2026‑27 season.
