Bird Flu in California: What You Need to Know
Friday, October 4, 2024
There have been outbreaks among dairy cows in California since August. The first case was confirmed on March 24. So far, there are 14 human bird flu cases in the United States. Four of these were from exposure to dairy cows, ten from poultry, and one from an unknown source.
It's important to remember that bird flu isn't something you easily catch just by being near infected animals. Most people don't get it unless they have direct contact with sick birds or their droppings. Always follow safety guidelines if you work around these animals.
