People are talking about a new business idea from Billy Evans.  He is the partner of Elizabeth Holmes.  She is the person behind the failed company Theranos.  The new company is called Haemanthus.  It wants to use blood tests to help people stay healthy.  This is similar to what Theranos tried to do.

    The new company has a machine.  It uses lasers to check blood, saliva, and urine.  The goal is to find cancer and infections early.  This sounds impressive.  But, it is important to think critically.  Theranos also had big promises.  They did not work out.  Holmes is in prison for 11 years.  She was found guilty of cheating investors.

    Haemanthus plans to start with pets.  This might be a smart move.  It is easier to test new ideas on pets first.  Then, they can move to humans.  The company wants to raise over $50 million.  This is a lot of money.  It shows they are serious.  But, it also shows they need a lot of support.

    Some investors are cautious.  Jim Breyer is one of them.  He invested in Facebook early on.  He was asked to invest in Haemanthus.  He said no.  He had the same concerns as when he passed on Theranos.  This is a red flag.  It shows that some people are worried.  They do not want to make the same mistakes again.

    Holmes is still hopeful.  She said she wants to make healthcare affordable for everyone.  This is a noble goal.  But, actions speak louder than words.  It is important to see results.  Not just promises.  The world is watching.  They want to see if Haemanthus can deliver.  Or if it will be another failed dream.
