Blue Origin's Giant New Rocket: When Will It Launch and What's Its Goal?
Cape Canaveral, USASaturday, January 11, 2025
The first launch of New Glenn will take place from Cape Canaveral, Florida. It has a three-hour window starting at 1 AM ET (10 PM PT) on January 12th. The original date, January 10th, was delayed due to rough seas in the Atlantic. This uncrewed launch will carry the Blue Ring Pathfinder, a device that tests equipment for future space missions, like refueling and data relay.
Blue Origin CEO David Limp said the main goal is to get New Glenn into orbit. Landing the reusable booster is an added bonus. Jones, the senior VP of New Glenn, mentioned, "We've prepared a lot, but flying the rocket for real is different. We'll learn from this. "
