Bodybuilders' Posing: Is There a Right and Wrong Side?

Have you ever wondered if bodybuilders favor one side of their body while posing? Let's dive into a study that looked into this. Researchers examined the posing habits of the top bodybuilders from 2016 to 2023 during the Classic Physique Mr. Olympia contests. What they found was fascinating: most athletes tend to pose to the right! This right-side bias was seen in all mandatory poses, except for the "Front Double Biceps, " which was the most symmetrical pose. The "Side Chest" pose, however, was the most asymmetrical, always favoring one side.

This trend was more pronounced in the lower-ranked athletes. Isn't that interesting? Unlike portraiture, where there's often a left bias, bodybuilders seem to have a different set of constraints and preferences, possibly driven by motor coordination and the desire to express emotions on stage.
