Boeing Bounces Back: A Closer Look at 2025's Airplane Sales
In 2025, Boeing made a significant comeback in the airplane sales race. They sold 1,173 planes, beating Airbus for the first time since 2018. This shows Boeing is getting back on track after some tough years.
Deliveries and Challenges
Boeing delivered 600 planes last year. That's the most they've done in seven years. However, before this, they had some big problems. Two crashes and other issues slowed them down. Still, they're back in the game.
Airbus Performance
Airbus delivered more planes than Boeing last year. They handed over 793 planes. But that's less than their record of 863 in 2019. They had 889 net orders for 2025. Not bad, but Boeing is catching up.
Recent Sales and Future Plans
Boeing's sales last month were strong. They sold 174 planes, including over 100 737 Maxes to Alaska Airlines. Delta Air Lines also ordered at least 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. These are big deals. Deliveries won't start until the early 2030s. Airlines are planning ahead to replace old planes and grow.
Ongoing Challenges
Boeing is still facing some challenges. Engine and supply chain issues are slowing down deliveries. But deliveries are important. Airlines pay most of the plane's price when they get it.
Upcoming Announcements
Boeing's executives will talk about their plans soon. They'll share more details when they report their quarterly results on January 27.
