Kids getting hurt by guns is a big problem.  Many kids end up in the emergency room because of this.  A hospital can help them and their families deal with this trauma.  This is what a hospital-based violence intervention program does.  They try to lower the chances of these kids getting hurt again.  But, there is a problem.  Not all families who need help are getting it.

    The goal here was to get more families into the program.  The plan was to boost the number of families getting help by 20% in one year.  This was for kids who ended up in the emergency room because of violence.

    The focus was on kids who got hurt by someone else.  This could be from fights, assaults, or other violent acts.  The idea was to catch these families early.  Then, they could get the help they need before things get worse.
