Boosting Protein for Stronger Bodies: A Study on Seniors with Type 2 Diabetes
Friday, January 3, 2025
The researchers divided the group into two. One group got extra protein in their diet, while the other didn't. They checked everyone's muscles, strength, and diabetes progress after a while. They wanted to see if the extra protein made a difference.
The study found that those who got more protein had better muscle strength and physical performance. But, it didn't seem to slow down diabetes. This could be because the study was small, and they didn't check for a long time.
So, while eating more protein might help older adults with type 2 diabetes keep their muscles strong, we still need more research to see if it can also control diabetes.
