Within these communities, limited access to quality healthcare is often a result of geographical and physical barriers, discrimination, and biased healthcare delivery. This program aims to do just that by selecting five community-based entrepreneurial organizations to develop innovative solutions to improve health equity.

So, who's eligible to apply? Any 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in the United States can throw their hat into the ring. The deadline to apply is October 27, and the application process is straightforward – simply visit the AbbVie Foundation's website.

But what does it take to be a part of this esteemed cohort? Organizations must have a track record of delivering quality healthcare in their community, be embedded in that community, and have a deep understanding of its unique challenges. In short, they must be passionate about addressing health inequities and have a willingness to think outside the box.

The program starts on January 6 and will run for eight weeks, during which participants will receive a $10,000 stipend to develop their ideas. But that's not all – they'll also receive guidance, resources, and networking opportunities to accelerate their growth.

At the end of the eight-week session, each participant will present their idea to a panel of judges in a competitive environment. The winner will receive a whopping $50,000, but here's the catch – they'll need to use this funding to develop their idea further.

With MATTER's expertise as an incubator for startup companies, the stage is set for success. As Steven Collens, CEO of MATTER, puts it, "The healthcare system presents people with a lot of challenges. There is a large swath of people that don't have access to high-quality healthcare, and changing that is part of our mission."
