Breakthrough in Monkeypox Detection: A New POC Biosensor
Monday, November 18, 2024
This makes it much faster and cheaper. The scientists tested PD-IRIS on the Monkeypox virus (MPXV), capturing it with antibodies on special sensor chips. They found it could detect MPXV down to 200 virus particles per milliliter, way less than current lab methods. Plus, it's super specific, which means it won't mistake other viruses, like herpes or cowpox, for MPXV. This new tool could be a game-changer for Monkeypox diagnostics at POC, and it even has the potential to spot multiple viruses at once.
