Breast Cancer Awareness: Free Screenings and Support in Colorado Springs

Breast cancer is a significant health concern for women in the United States. Statistics show that it affects 1 in 8 women at some point in their lives. While screenings do not prevent breast cancer, they are crucial for identifying the disease at an early stage. On May 17, from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m. , the Women's Health Center at 225 S. Union Blvd. will host a Breast Cancer Community Resources Fair. This event is free and open to the public, featuring a variety of exhibitors. These exhibitors will offer breast cancer screenings, preventive care, and support for those living with the disease. The fair will also provide an opportunity for women to speak with health providers about breast cancer and screenings. Staff from the Women’s Wellness Connection program will be present, offering free breast and cervical cancer screenings. This program is part of a broader effort to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for the community.

The event is made possible by the Legacy Race Battling Breast Cancer, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting those affected by breast cancer in the Pikes Peak region. The goal is to bring together various services and resources in one place, making it easier for women to get the information and support they need.
