Bridgewater-Raritan School Board Changes Schedule, Three Members Sworn In

In Bridgewater, New Jersey, the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School Board held its annual reorganization meeting on Tuesday night. Three members took their oaths of office: Ashish "AJ" Joshi and Jennifer Loughran, who were re-elected, and Jeremy Li, who was newly elected. The meeting also saw changes to the meeting schedule, with the start time moving from 7:30 p. m. to 7 p. m. , and the frequency of meetings changing from twice a month to once a month. The new board members expressed their commitment to their roles. For instance, Steven Singer, the newly elected Board President, thanked the community for their support and pledged to meet expectations. Emily Calistri was chosen as the Vice President.

Board members were assigned to different committees. For example, Barry Walker and Jeremy Li will represent the board on the Somerset County Education Services Commission, with Li as the alternate. Lanfang "Lucy" Li was chosen for the New Jersey School Board Assembly, with Michael Pepe as the alternate. Rebecca Hassouna will handle the Somerset County School Board Association, while Jennifer Loughran and Michael Pepe will represent Bridgewater Township and Raritan Borough, respectively. Not all board members were in favor of the meeting schedule changes. Langfang Li pointed out that a 7 p. m. start time might be challenging for some people to attend. However, the board decided to give the new schedule a try and review it later if necessary. The changes were approved, but Jeremy Li and Langfang Li voted against it.
