Bright Red Ball Comes to Dallas for a Week

A 15‑foot red inflatable will appear in different spots around Dallas from June 19 to June 28. The ball, created by Kurt Perschke, has been touring cities worldwide for over two decades and this is its first stop in Texas.

Daily Moves – Each day the ball will pop up in a new location, catching downtown walkers and Arts District visitors by surprise.
World Cup Timing – The schedule coincides with the FIFA World Cup, so international travelers are likely to spot it.
Weight & Size – Roughly 250 pounds, the ball has already visited places like Toronto before heading to Dallas.
Color Choice – Perschke chose red for its playful vibe and eye‑catching appeal, aiming to spark imagination and fresh interactions.
Global History – Cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Hong Kong, and Sydney have hosted the ball in alleys or high above crowds. Some spots allow touch; others hide it for a surprising view.
Free Experience – The installation is free and open to everyone.

The project began in 2001 in St. Louis, and the team claims it is the longest‑running street art piece worldwide. By moving from one venue to another, the ball invites residents and tourists alike to pause, snap photos, and maybe even lean against its bright surface.
