Brothers, Waves, and Secrets: A Surf Drama in the Making
Two big names in entertainment and surf culture are teaming up to bring a story of brothers, secrets, and the healing power of the ocean to life.
The Project
The project, called "Bali Hai," is set to hit the screens after filming in the beautiful island of Bali in late 2026.
The Story
The story revolves around two brothers who haven't been on speaking terms. They meet up in Bali for a big surf competition. While they're there, they have to face some old hurts and maybe even find a way to forgive each other. It sounds like a mix of action, drama, and a bit of soul-searching.
The Man Behind the Script
The man behind the script is Matt George, a former pro surfer who knows a thing or two about waves and stories. He's been a big deal in surf journalism for over 35 years and has even written and produced other surf-related projects. One of his past works, "In God's Hands," was a hit among surf enthusiasts.
The Team
George is teaming up with Tom DeLonge, the co-founder of the famous rock band blink-182. DeLonge is also known for his work in film and TV through his company, To the Stars. Together, they're aiming to create a surf drama that's not just about the sport but also about the culture and the people who live and breathe it.
The Production
The project is being produced by Evoke Entertainment, a company that's been around since 2011. They've worked on a bunch of films and TV shows, including "Jeepers Creepers 3" and "Twelve Forever." Stan Spry, the CEO of Evoke, is excited about this project. He thinks George is one of the best storytellers in surf culture and is looking forward to a film that captures the raw and soulful spirit of the sport.
The Vision
While the project is still in the works, it's clear that "Bali Hai" is more than just a surf movie. It's a story about family, forgiveness, and finding oneself in the most unexpected places. And with the beautiful backdrop of Bali, it's sure to be a visual treat as well.
