Burr Ridge's Big Development Debate

Bridge Industrial, a Chicago-based developer, is pushing for a major commercial project in Burr Ridge, Illinois. The plan involves transforming the old CNH Industrial site on Veterans Boulevard into seven new buildings. However, not everyone is on board. A village advisory committee has expressed concerns. To keep residents informed, Bridge Industrial has launched a website and sent out postcards highlighting the project's details. Curt Pascoe, the company's vice president, stressed the importance of transparency and addressing any resident concerns. The first public hearing on this development is scheduled for January 20.

The project, dubbed "Invest in Burr Ridge, " promises to revamp the vacant industrial property and promote environmental sustainability. Bridge Industrial claims the new buildings won't be a trucking hub or big-box stores. They aim to improve traffic flow, strengthen infrastructure, and even create new public spaces. Traffic improvements are a significant focus. The developer plans to extend Veterans Boulevard and invest $5 million in related enhancements. Additionally, 20 acres of the site will be converted into open space and walking trails, while Bridge Industrial will contribute to the construction of a new public works building, saving Burr Ridge taxpayers a substantial $12 million. Some residents worry about increased traffic and potential noise pollution. But the developer insists this project will bring significant benefits to the community, including substantial tax revenue for local schools.
